HAMMER LAB - technology and durability tests of HAMMER smartphones
HAMMER LAB is a space where we showcase the technology behind HAMMER's durable devices. We develop our own solutions, strengthen constructions, and test devices in demanding mechanical, environmental, and user tests.
Because durability is not the appearance of the device. It is technology, construction, and testing.
HAMMER RESISTANCE TECHNOLOGY
Resistance does not depend on a single element
It arises at the intersection of design, technology, testing, and standards by which we assess and describe the resilience of devices.
Construction
We design devices with falls, impacts, pressure, and vibrations in mind.
Technology
We are developing solutions that further enhance devices.
Tests
We are checking the mechanical, environmental resistance, and longevity of the equipment.
Standards and certifications
We relate the declarations of resistance to specific methods and testing conditions.
MORE THAN ONE CONSTRUCTION ELEMENT
HEXCore
HEXCORE is a technology and philosophy of additional reinforcement of devices developed by HAMMER.
It is not a single component, but a set of design solutions that help better dissipate impact energy and reduce the effects of overloads and vibrations on key components.
HEXCORE solutions evolve alongside the successive generations of HAMMER devices.
From impact to energy dissipation
During a fall, the impact energy spreads through the smartphone's structure in a fraction of a second. The resulting overloads and vibrations affect the casing and the components inside. HEXCORE helps to better manage this phenomenon.
reduction of overloads
more effective vibration damping
The effectiveness of HEXCORE solutions has been confirmed in tests conducted by an independent research laboratory.
*Results obtained under specific test conditions. Actual values may vary depending on the device design and testing conditions.

Independent verification of armor strength
In addition to the HAMMER testing procedures, the durability of HAMMER CONSTRUCTION 3 THERMAL 5G has been verified in tests conducted by TÜV Rheinland.
The research also included demanding mechanical, environmental, and material tests.
50 G / 12 SHOCKS
Impulses with a load of 50 g and a duration of 11 ms, performed in various orientations of the device. After the test, the smartphone maintained proper functionality.
10-500 HZ / TO 3 G
Vibration test conducted for 40 minutes on each of the three axes X/Y/Z. After the test, the device operated correctly.
-40°C / +75°C / 72 H
The powered-off device was subjected to a 72-hour exposure to extremely low and high temperatures. After both tests, it maintained its proper appearance and functionality.
MOHS 6
The screen passed the scratch resistance test at level 6 on the Mohs scale.
How does HAMMER test the durability of smartphones?
All HAMMER devices undergo tests tailored to their design and purpose. The HAMMER testing standard includes 50 procedures across 7 areas.
In the case of the HAMMER CONSTRUCTION 3 THERMAL 5G, the device's durability has been further verified in tests conducted by TÜV Rheinland.

HOW DO WE TEST MECHANICAL RESISTANCE?
One fall is not enough
Resistance depends not only on the height of the fall but also on the surface, the point of impact, the number of repetitions, and the test conditions.
Fall test
The test includes six areas of the device and four corners in two cycles.
Tumble test
Multiple drops and changes in device orientation.
Microfall test
5000 falls forward, 5000 backward, and 500 on each edge.
Shock test
Impulse test in three axes and both directions.
Pressure and bending
We are checking the structure's resistance to long-term and repeated loads.

How do we test resistance to environmental conditions?
We also test the device's resistance in extreme environmental conditions - from frost and high temperatures to humidity, dust, and salt fog.

Durability is also about everyday use
A smartphone may never fall from a height, but its buttons, ports, and screen are used thousands of times. That's why we also check their durability.

IP69, MIL-STD-810H, and drop test – what do they really mean?
IP69
The IP rating defines the level of protection of the enclosure against dust and water. IP69 indicates complete dust tightness and resistance to high-pressure and high-temperature water jets, under the conditions specified for this protection class.
What does IP69 mean?
MIL-STD-810H
The military standard for environmental testing that defines methods for assessing the resilience of equipment to impacts, vibrations, temperature, water, dust, and low pressure. The scope of testing and the parameters for examining a specific device are always significant.
MIL-STD-810H without myths
DROP TEST
Information about drop resistance makes sense only when considered alongside the methodology: height, surface, number of drops, and the criteria for passing the test.

The scope and parameters of the tests are tailored to the device and the requirements of the specific project.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
What is HEXCore?
HEXCore is a technology and philosophy of additional reinforcement of device structures developed by HAMMER.
02
Does every HAMMER have HEXCORE?
No. The technology makes its debut in the HAMMER CONSTRUCTION 3 THERMAL 5G and HAMMER BLADE 6 PRO 5G. Other devices undergo durability tests tailored to their design and intended use.
03
How does HAMMER test drop resistance?
The scope and duration of the tests are determined individually. The most important thing is that users can check the devices during their daily tasks before making a decision about implementation.
04
Does MIL-STD-810H mean that the phone is indestructible?
We use several testing procedures, including a drop test from a height of 1.5 m, a tumble test involving at least 270 drops, and a micro-drop test comprising 12,000 drops.
Resilience that we are constantly developing
HEXCORE is the next step on this journey. New technologies, designs, and test results allow for the development of the next generations of HAMMER devices.
We design. We test. We analyze. We develop.
